School groups

Whitsunday Training has developed educational programs for study tour groups from around the world in areas such as marine biology and environmental management.

Maricopa College

One of our recent tour groups was a class of marine biology students from Maricopa College in Phoenix, Arizona. During their two-week study tour of the Whitsundays, the students experienced a range of tropical marine environments not found in the United States.

The students' program of activities included reef talks, workshops, readings, guided nature walks, snorkelling, excursions to a local wildlife sanctuary, day trips to the Whitsunday Islands and a three-day live-aboard dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef.

The visit gave the students an opportunity to step away from their regular marine biology course and examine the incredible biodiversity and inner workings of coral reefs first-hand.

Blyth Education

Another study tour that was recently hosted by Whitsunday Training was Blyth Education's International Summer Program. This group of students from Toronto, Ontario enjoyed an unforgettable outdoor learning experience.

Initially based at Club Crocodile, Airlie Beach, the students mixed their daily classes with regular stints swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving in the crystal clear waters. Then after splitting into separate male and female crews, the students enjoyed the experience of living aboard two 25-metre racing yachts as they explored the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef.
